The Qso Variability-luminosity-redshift Relation
The relationship between variability, luminosity and redshift in the South Galactic Pole QSO sample is examined in an eeort to disentangle the eeects of luminosity and redshift in the amplitude of the optical variations. The anticorrelation between variability and luminosity found by other authors is connrmed. Our analysis also supports claims that variability increases with redshift, most like...
متن کاملShort - term optical variability of high - redshift QSO ’ s
This paper presents results of a search for short-term variability in the optical band of selected high-luminosity, high-redshift radio-quiet quasars. Each quasar has been monitored typically for 2 – 4 hours with a time resolution of 2 – 5 minutes and a photometric accuracy of about 0. m 01 – 0. m 02. Due to the significant redshift (z > 2), the covered wavelength range falls into the UV region...

متن کاملConstraints on the correlation between QSO luminosity and host halo mass from high-redshift quasar clustering
Recent measurements of high-redshift QSO clustering from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey indicate that QSOs at z ∼ 4 have a bias 〈b〉 ≃ 14. We find that this extremely high clustering amplitude, combined with the corresponding space density, constrains the dispersion in the L−Mh relation to be less than 50% at 99% confidence for the most conservative case of a 100% duty cycle. This upper limit to t...
